2015 Spring Tryouts

January 31st, 2015

Colfax Ball Park

All Minor & New Major Players MUST Try Out!

REGISTRATION Opens at 9:30 am

10:00 am - 11:00 am = Age 8 Players (*see below*)

11:00 am - 12:00 pm = Age 9 & 10 Players

12:00 pm to - 1:00 pm = Age 11 & 12 Players (new Major players)

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm = Random

Please try to have your child at Colfax Ball Park in their designated time slot according to their Little League Baseball age.  Use the League Age Calculator link to determine correct age.

*Age 8 players automatically play farm but are eligible to try out for Minors per Little League.  SFLL will only place 8 year old players in Minors if absolutely necessary to complete team rosters.*

As a result of this recent adjustment to the implementation strategy, effective immediately, any player born on or after January 1, 2006 who will turn the ages of 4-9 during the 2015 calendar year will be eligible to participate in a local Little League program and will use the new age determination date of December 31 for the reminder of their Little League career. Players will still be assigned to a division based on local league divisional structure.

Consequently, players born prior to January 1, 2006 will continue to utilize the current age determination date of April 30 for the 2015, 2016, and 2017 seasons. In 2018 all players born prior to January 1, 2006 will begin utilizing December 31 as their age determination date. The majority of concerns will surround the fact that a 2015 league age nine (9) year old will be 10 in 2016, 11 in 2017, but in 2018 will effectively be league age 13 and will advance out of the major league division. All players represented within the chart below will all use the December 31 date beginning in the 2018 season.

If you have any questions, contact SFLL's Minor/Major Player Agent.

Residency and School Attendance Eligibility

In an effort to accommodate for Little Leaguers to play with their classmates, and ease the burden on parents and guardians, Little League has amended its residency requirements to allow children to play in the local league whose boundaries where they attend school is located. To verify enrollment, parents will need to bring an official school document, such as a report card or school enrollment form, confirming enrollment in the school for the current academic year, dated before October 1, 2013.

Read the full text of the new rule here.

"Little League is always looking for more ways to give all children the opportunity to have the best Little League experience possible," said Patrick Wilson, Little League Senior Vice President of Operations and Program Development. "This new rule will provide more flexibility for families to participate in the leagues that best fits their children."
