- Assists in dugout parent duties (parents must be background checked to be in the dugout) Ask parents to label all player items prior to first practice ie: hat, glove, water bottle, bat etc.. Consider using small baskets/buckets with carabiners to attach to fencing for players to put their gear in. The buckets/baskets can be placed in order of lineup to keep the team organized and ready. (Tball-AA only)
- Creates team raffle basket (team parent will be notified of date raffle basket will be needed by) Your team should create a themed basket (examples: spa day, beach, sports, movie night, pizza night, camping, game night, patriotic, etc.). You should have each player’s family donate approximately $5-$10 for the basket, reach out to local businesses or vendors for donations if you’d like, and assemble a basket with a minimum of a $50 value. Be creative, have fun, and make your basket the one everyone wants to win!
- Responsible for having their team sell raffle tickets.
- Responsible for promoting Hit-A-thon and encouraging fundraising
- Sets the Snack Shack schedule and ensures the Snack Shack is staffed 30 minutes prior to, during & after your game. Games will not start without the Snack Shacks being staffed! **Please be sure to staff the snack shack for Inter-League games! SFLL will ALWAYS run the snack shack while hosting Inter-League games!
- Checks that the Snack Bar Checklist is completed after EVERY game

- Recruits game announcers for ballparks that have announcing equipment, or bring your own if desired.
- Assists the manager in filling out and acquiring appropriate signatures for the pitch count data sheet form (AAA-Juniors)
- Consider using signup genius to recruit volunteers for the entire season (send to parents to ensure staffing for snack shack, scorekeeping, pitch count and announcing) Also feel free to appoint volunteers if needed as all shifts need to be covered in order to have a game!!!!
- Provides an accurate season-end roster for participation awards for TB, A & AA teams
- Plans a season-end team party (optional)
- The Team parent completes a lot of hours during their service as Team parent and will be exempt from completing volunteer service program hours.
Team parent snack shack/volunteer info for AAA-Majors
-Create your own Signup Genius for all game duties except snack shack: scorekeeping, pitch count, announcing, and scoreboard. Check Home/Away and interleague rules for SFLL required duties.
-Colfax Ball Park and Applegate Snack Shacks will each have a separate signup genius link for every game at their respective ballparks. These signup links will be available on the website and in the weekly newsletter for volunteers and scholarship recipients to register.
-Encourage your team to register early to secure convenient dates and times. Remind them they can assist other teams or hire teens to cover shifts. Team parents will get a list of teens and must hire for their team if chosen. Parents should still sign up with their name and contact on Signup Genius even if hiring. Parents are still in charge of checking on the teen, counting the money before and after the shift. Team parents should note hires and contact them if the game is cancelled. Teen contacts are only to be shared with team parents.
-Applegate snack shack will need 1 volunteer per game and Colfax Ball Park will need 2 volunteers per game. If hiring a teen, Applegate is $10, Colfax is $20 per teen worker.
-Shifts begin 30 minutes prior to the game and 30 minutes after the game. All money must be counted at the beginning and end of every shift. Follow the snack shacks checklist. Parents hiring are still responsible with helping with setup and clean up at the end of the shift.
-A signoff sheet is available in each snack shack and will be collected weekly by Dawn, the volunteer coordinator. Team parents or managers of the game being played must sign off on completed shifts. These sheets will be used to cross reference team tracking sheets at season's end to verify shifts. Parents are responsible for ensuring the signoff sheet is completed after their shift to receive credit.
Rainouts/game cancellations:
-The team parent is required to review the snack shack schedule on the day of the game and notify the parents who signed up if the game is canceled, providing as much advance notice as possible.
-Parents should include their contact phone number in the comment box when signing up for a shift. This allows the team parent of the team who is running the snack shack for that game to notify them if the game is canceled or rained out.
-In the event of a game cancellation, please have your team revisit the online signup portal to find another shift to meet their volunteer service requirements.
*Please contact Dawn Volunteer Coordinator with any questions. [email protected]
*This is a new program this season, so there may be some trial and error during the process. Thank you for volunteering your time for our children.
